Calgary Performing Arts Festival Family and Friends

The Board of Directors of the Calgary Performing Arts Festival (CPAF) is sad to announce the resignation of our Executive Director, Young-Mi Kwon. Young-Mi played a critical role in the success of CPAF, and we wish her all the best as she pursues exciting new opportunities. We thank Young-Mi for five years of dedicated service with significant accomplishments, including many successful festivals and new endeavours such as PopFest, ClassicFest and virtual competitions, as well as several outstanding fundraising galas and events.

Young-Mi will lead CPAF through June 2022 as we recruit a new Executive Director. This will ensure CPAF continues to provide competitive festival, planned for April and May, leading up to the Alberta Music Festival Association (AMFA) provincials.

We are also very excited about introducing a new, non-competitive ClassicFest in June to engage our many talented performers – a legacy to Young-Mi and her desire to open the festival to all performing arts students.

We cannot thank Young-Mi enough for the professionalism, passion and creativity she brought to CPAF over the years. Her dedication and positive mindset were instrumental to the organization as we navigated the global pandemic and its impact on the arts community in Calgary. We look forward to building on her success as we continue to support aspiring amateur artists in our community.

To celebrate our 90th anniversary season, we were able to offer an opportunity for solo piano to perform virtually or pre-recorded for adjudication. We captured our performers with top-notch, multi-camera live stream technology to make sure we get the best angles of the performances. Stay tuned for the upcoming 2022 CPA Festival and more highlights!
